I tugged at the straps of my small book bag as Aiden drove down the road towards school. I was totally bored with it, nothing cool happened anymore. The same with my life, except for the occasional hunting down in New York City, which didn’t happen much anymore anyway since Mom and Dad wanted to settle down. For the sake of us kids and our education, which wasn’t thriving because I barely paid attention in class anyway.
I glanced over at Aiden who was extremely focused. His pale green eyes were glued to the road, although they weren’t changing besides the occasional stop sign.

Another boy who’s perched at the top of the steps looks down at the girls, his hawk-eyed vision locking onto one girl in specific. He doesn’t speak a word. The party continues, boys in ebony top hats and matching suits dancing with their suited date, dressed in forever-dark ebony hand-sewn gowns.
